For Laughter, For Leadership; Welcome!

There is much in this world, in this country, and in our local communities that could lead our youth to be overwhelmed—to be disengaged. Even I have my moments. Yet, when I visit with youth from Louisville or converse with and watch student-made documentaries from Vermont Social Action Team members and from Andover Bread Loaf and hear the poetry from our young friends from the Navajo Nation, I feel rejuvenated. I am reminded that I can look to our youth for fresh perspective, for hope, for leadership, for necessary disruption from the daily noise. Bringing together groups of talented, compassionate and determined youth who are already engaged in making a difference in their communities in Atlanta; Allendale, SC; Navajo Nation; Louisville, KY; Vermont, and Lawrence, MA will push all of us involved in BLTN NextGen to think deeply and with more complexity about the world around us. Through reading, writing, talking, performing, and other modes of expression, I look to you, BLTN NextGen, for vision, for hope, for laughter, for leadership. Point us in the direction you want us to go. Welcome to the Mountain!
